In this episode of Directing Magic; Amanda Verhagen, Canadian producer of THE DEVOUT joins Marquette. They discuss her team’s nomination for their first Canadian Screen Award, her recent work with comedian Blake Anderson and some of the differences between Canadian and American production sets.

Amanda Verhagen is an award-winning producer with a BFA from the University of Victoria. Her work includes the seven time Leo Award winning Telefilm feature THE DEVOUT.
The film premiered at the Busan International Film Festival where it was nominated for the top international prize and went on to earn the Grand Jury Prize at the Dieppe Film Festival, the BC Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Vancouver Intentional Film Festival, screen in the Telefilm Perspective Canada program at the Cannes Film Festival and be nominated for the John Dunning Discovery Award at the Canadian Screen Awards.
Amanda is also an industrious Production Coordinator and Supervisor. Her credits include Warner Brother’s THE FLASH, MGM Studio’s EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, and most recently she worked on Point Grey Pictures/Netflix’s GAME OVER, MAN! staring Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Blake Anderson of Workaholics.
She has multiple feature films and series in development and was recently selected as one of six Canadian producers to attend the Whistler Film Festival’s Feature Project Lab for development of the female ensemble comedy PARTY FAVOUR.
